Spring Visit Opportunities

Hood College offers a variety of visit options to ensure that prospective students and their families have a wonderful campus experience customized to their needs.

Weekday Visits

Weekday visits are offered twice-daily, in the morning and afternoon, and include a student-led tour and an appointment with one of our admission counselors. Visits can also be customized to include meetings with coaches or faculty members.

“Blazer for a Day” Campus Visits

“Blazer for a Day” is an extended visit option that allows students to sit in on a class of their choosing, eat lunch in the dining hall, take a student-led tour of campus, and meet with an admission counselor. Visits are customizable and can be created to include meetings with the financial aid department, professors and coaches, among other options.

Saturday Visits

Hood College is open on select Saturdays from 10 a.m. to noon. Saturday visits include a group presentation with an admission counselor and a student-led tour. This spring, Saturday visits will be held on the following dates:

  • February 4 and 18

  • March 4

  • April 22 and 29

Spring Break Daily Visit Opportunities

During the spring break dates for Maryland counties, we will be offering additional daily visit options.  In addition to our regular 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. campus visit time slots, we will be offering arrival times at 11 a.m., 12 p.m. and 3 p.m.  These visits will include an admission interview and student-led campus tour.

Admitted Students’ Day

On April 8, students who have been admitted to Hood College are invited to come to campus to learn more about what it means to be part of our thriving community. During this program, students will have the opportunity to attend two mini-courses of their choosing, attend a showcase of student clubs and organizations, take an inside look at the campus and residence halls, meet with faculty members and much more.  We are also offering an overnight experience with evening programming prior to the Admitted Students’ Day event, which we will be registering students for separately.

Spring Open House

This year’s Spring Open House is on Saturday, March 25. Current students, faculty and staff members will be on hand to talk to you and your family about academics, life on campus, the financial aid process and anything else that you want to know more about. Campus tours will be offered.

Fall Visit Opportunities

As we get back into the swing of the school year, we’re continuing to improve our programming in the Office of Admission to ensure that every student who comes to campus has a productive and enjoyable visit. This semester, we’re offering a number of visit opportunities both throughout the week and on weekends in order to accommodate all of our prospective students’ needs.

Weekday Visits

Weekday visits are offered twice-daily, at 10 a.m. and 2 p.m., and include a student-led tour and an appointment with one of our admission counselors.

Saturday Visits

Hood College is open on many Saturdays from 10 a.m. to noon. Saturday visits include a group presentation and a student-led tour. This semester, Saturday visits will be held on the following dates:

  • August 27

  • September 3, 10, and 17

  • October 1 and 22

  • November 5 and 19

  • December 3 and 10

Game Day

Join us for Game Day at Hood College to support our athletic teams and learn more about what it’s like to be an athlete at Hood as well as a fan. You’re welcome to attend any (or all!) of our games on campus on October 1 as well as a tailgating celebration with game-inspired food that will allow you to meet other students and Hood staff members!

Schedule:

12 p.m. Women’s soccer game

1 p.m. Women’s volleyball game

2 p.m.Tailgating at the Ronald J. Volpe Athletic Center

3 p.m. Men’s soccer game AND women’s volleyball game

STEM Fair

On October 29, Hood College will be hosting a STEM fair featuring offerings from the College’s science, technology and mathematics programs, who will be representing their majors, minors and courses in biology, biochemistry, chemistry, coastal studies, computational science, computer science, environmental science and policy, mathematics, nursing, physics and pre-medical studies.

Summer Visit Opportunities

Although graduation is fast approaching and students are preparing to leave Hood’s campus until next fall, we’re working hard to ensure that our high school visitors have a great experience all summer long. We offer a variety of summer visit options during the week and on weekends in order to make a campus visit a convenient and pleasant experience for students, families, counselors and groups.

This summer, Hood will be hosting six Summer Preview Days. Each Preview Day will take place on a Friday and will allow students and families to participate in an admission presentation, tour our campus, and enjoy lunch with faculty members. Many families will find it a great first stop on their way to a weekend trip to Washington, D.C, Baltimore, or just to enjoy all there is to see and do in Frederick!

We will also be hosting two Open Saturdays over the summer, during which students will be able to participate in a presentation by a member of our admission team and tour our campus. The presentations begin at 10 am, and tours conclude by noon. Admission representatives will be available throughout each visit to answer any additional questions that students and their families may have.

We are also beginning to prepare the programming for our Fall Open Houses! This year, the open houses will be held on October 15 and November 12. During this event, students and their families will have the opportunity to meet with faculty members, current students, and coaches, take a tour of campus, and enjoy a meal.
