Admission and Scholarship Overview

entrancebanners.jpgAt Hood College, we try to make our application process as simple as possible for both students and counselors. We admit students on a rolling basis, so there are no early decision or early action deadlines for applicants to track, and we don’t charge an application fee. Additionally, all students are considered for merit scholarship awards and our honors program when they apply to the college, so qualified applicants will receive an admission decision, and information about their merit scholarship award and honors program eligibility within two to three weeks of completing their applications.

Our merit scholarship awards are a percentage of tuition rather than a set dollar amount so that the value of students’ scholarships remains proportional to the cost of attendance during their time at Hood. These scholarships, based on applicants’ high school grades and achievements, cover up to 50 percent of tuition and are renewable for up to four years. Recipients must enroll on a full-time basis, make satisfactory progress toward their degree and keep their GPA to the level specified in their award letters to maintain their scholarship.

Earlier this year, we announced a new scholarship program for outstanding students. We are pleased to begin awarding four Chair of the Board Scholarships (worth full-tuition!) to first-year students entering in the fall of 2017. All prospective freshmen will be considered for this opportunity, provided they have completed the application process and been offered admission to Hood College by Jan. 15, 2017. Exceptional candidates will be invited to attend Scholars Day on Feb. 11, 2017, where they will participate in a scholarship interview, meet with faculty and administrators, and tour campus. The four recipients of the full-tuition award will be notified no later than two weeks after Scholars Day.
